Obamacare:
PPACA is about to get very real for employers. On January 1, 2014, employers subject to PPACA's "employer mandate" must either offer group health insurance to their full-time employees or pay annual fines. Although the current fine amounts are less than the average cost of employer-provided health insurance, they will increase in the future and PPACA's proposed regulations subject employers to significant administrative burdens.

Z&R has been advising public and private sector clients on the specific provisions of PPACA affecting employers since the law was introduced in 2009. Join us on May 30, 2013 as we review the progress of PPACA's implementation and discuss recently proposed federal regulations governing employer liability under PPACA. During this two-hour presentation, employers will learn how to:

  • Determine whether PPACA's employer mandate applies to them;
  • Determine whether their employees are "full-time" under PPACA;
  • Determine whether they are, or may be, subject to fines under PPACA;
  • Determine whether their current employee health insurance coverage is "affordable" and provides "minimum value" under PPACA;
  • Identify various "safe harbor" practices to avoid liability under PPACA; and,
  • Identify potential PPACA fines and anticipate future increases in fine amounts.

The presentation will include a summary of recently released PPACA anti-retaliation regulations, ongoing legal challenges, issues that may affect PPACA's full implementation and what PPACA holds in store for employers in the future.

Make no mistake, PPACA's hurricane of rules, regulations and requirements drastically change how employers provide health insurance to their employees. To weather the storm, arm yourself with knowledge, understand how PPACA's rules work and how you can make those rules work for you.

There is limited seating available for this free seminar. To make a reservation or receive more information, please contact Gerri Lotenero (gl@zrlaw.com) at 216.696.4441.

Zashin & Rich Co., L.P.A. has a responsibility to our clients as well as other individuals interested in knowing more about the law. Each year, many of our attorneys speak and present at seminars and conferences in an effort to broaden an understanding of various aspects of laws that affect corporations, individuals, couples and private organizations.

These presentations can be tailored to each group and are often accompanied by supporting materials. These materials allow the learning process to continue long after the presentation. The firm's presentations are developed with two goals:

  1. Present information creating new avenues of thinking and new approaches to problem solving; and
  2. Discuss issues which may have caused confusion or created doubt about laws, ordinances or specific court decisions.

Special relationships with practitioners in a wide range of professional services, ranging from financial consulting, health care, accounting and business development allow the firm's attorneys to tailor programs to individual/corporate needs.

The following is a partial list of seminar topics the firm has presented to corporations, professional organizations and community groups:

  • The Leave of Absence Puzzle: Fitting the Pieces Together
  • Alternate Dispute Resolution: Taking a Fresh Look and Litigating Employment
  • Based Claims

  • Recent Developments under the Americans with Disabilities Act
